This Privacy Policy explains how the SagaBook application and SagaBook online services process information. SagaBook is developed and operated by Alexander Kotlyar ("SagaBook", "we", "us").

1. Information kept on your device

Imported books, parsed text, reading position and progress, bookmarks, notes, saved quotes, reading statistics, translation preferences, downloaded public-domain books, generated illustrations, narration files and related media are normally stored on your device. A backup is created only when you choose to create one and is saved to the location you select.

2. Information processed for online features

When you use server-powered book analysis, translation, contextual help, image generation, AI narration, Public Library search or other online features, SagaBook may process the text excerpt, request instructions, selected language/style, book metadata and the technical information needed to return the result.

For access, quotas, fraud prevention, billing verification and security, we may process a random installation identifier, protected session records, request timestamps, feature usage counters, subscription entitlement, IP address and ordinary server logs.

3. Public Library and third-party sources

Public Library uses catalog information and downloadable editions sourced from Project Gutenberg. Requests may be proxied or cached by SagaBook to reduce unnecessary traffic. Project Gutenberg and other third-party services may receive ordinary network information when a request is made to them. SagaBook is not affiliated with or endorsed by Project Gutenberg.

4. AI providers and other service providers

Server-powered AI requests may be processed by OpenAI as a service provider. If a user configures another supported provider, that provider's terms and privacy policy also apply. SagaBook may also use infrastructure, email, app-store, metadata, image, audio or public-content providers as needed for a requested feature.

5. Safety, abuse prevention and prohibited-use enforcement

To protect users and the service, SagaBook may apply automated and manual safety checks to prompts, generated output, reports and technical request metadata. These checks can classify or block content, rate-limit activity, detect attempts to bypass quotas or safety controls, and help investigate reports of harmful, illegal or abusive use.

Literary source material can include fictional violence, horror, crime, sexuality or other mature themes. SagaBook may process such source material for reading analysis. Separate generation features can still be limited when a requested output would violate applicable safety rules or law. Full prohibited-use rules are in the Terms of Use.

6. How information is used

SagaBook does not sell personal data and does not use third-party advertising SDKs for behavioural advertising.

7. Retention and deletion

Local data remains on your device until you remove it, restore another backup or uninstall/clear app data. Server usage, entitlement, safety and security records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for operation, fraud prevention, legal obligations and dispute resolution. To request deletion of associated server data, contact support@sagabook.org.

8. Security

Network traffic to SagaBook services uses HTTPS. Authentication and installation identifiers are protected using appropriate device and server safeguards. No storage or transmission method is completely risk-free.

9. Children

SagaBook is a general-audience reading application and is not directed to children under 13. Where local law requires a higher minimum age, that age applies.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as features, providers or legal requirements change. Questions and requests: support@sagabook.org.

This document is a product policy draft, not individual legal advice. Mandatory consumer and privacy rights that apply in your country remain unaffected.
